Add OneDrive as a Network Location in Right Networks

You can now access your Microsoft OneDrive files directly from the File Explorer within Right Networks. Microsoft OneDrive is a cloud storage service similar to Dropbox or Google Drive can can be used as an alternative to those applications. Dropbox and Google Drive are only accessible by using a web browser from within the hosted environment. 

The following article will walk you through the process of adding your OneDrive account as a network location within you hosted desktop. 

This must be performed using Internet Explorer ONLY.

If you do not currently have a Microsoft OneDrive account you can get one for free by visiting www.onedrive.com.

Business OneDrive Account

1. Log in to your OneDrive for Business account at portal.office.com.

Note: You must select the checkbox for Keep me signed in

If this checkbox is not selected the mapping will not work correctly.

2. Click on the OneDrive icon.

3. Copy the URL from _com back like the example below.https://test-my.sharepoint.com/personal/username_onmicrosoft_com

4. Open Windows Explorer in Right Networks and click on File.

  1. To access the File Explorer.
  2. Click on Start.
  3. Select Computer

5. Select Add a network location.

6. When the wizard comes up select Next.

7. Select Choose a custom network location and then select Next.

8. Enter in the address that you copied in step 3 and add /documents, it should like similar to the below example.

9. Enter the name that will be associated with the network location

  • We suggest calling it OneDrive.

10. After clicking next you can automatically open the folder.

11. You will now be able to Open and Save documents to this folder from within any application as well as navigate to it from the File Explorer.

Personal OneDrive Account

1.  From the Right Networks environment navigate to the OneDrive website www.onedrive.com and sign in.

Note: You must select the checkbox for Keep me signed in

If this checkbox is not selected the mapping will not work correctly.

2. Click on Files in the top left.

3.  Copy the CID code located at the end of the url similar to the one shown below:

4. Open Windows Explorer in Right Networks and click on File.

  • To access the File Explorer.
  • Click on Start.
  • Select Computer

5. Select Add a Network Location.

6. When the wizard comes up select Next.

7. Select Choose a custom network location and then select Next.

8. Enter in the address https://d.docs.live.net/, followed by the CID code you got in step 3, so it looks like the following: https://d.docs.live.net//8B1B359CF44ED84A

9. Enter the name that will be associated with the network location.

We suggest calling it OneDrive. 

10. After clicking next you can automatically open the folder.

11. You will now be able to Open and Save documents to this folder from within any application as well as navigate to it from the File Explorer.
